Dr Bethan James ESA/AURA Astronomer Space Telescope Science Institute
I am an astronomer who specializes in extragalactic observational astrophysics. I currently work as an ESA/AURA Astronomer at the Space Telescope Science Institute (STScI), where I lead the Metals In Galaxies research group.
As an expert in UV+optical+IR spectroscopic studies of low-metallicity star-forming galaxies, I focus on quantifying metals throughout the Universe with the aim of understanding metal-dependent processes that affect galaxy formation and evolution.
I use a range of observational techniques within my research and specialize in spatially-resolved optical and UV spectroscopy.
At STScI I am the Deputy Manager of the JWST-NIRSpec team, and previously served as Deputy Manager of the HST-COS team.
